Implementation of layoff activity A3 Prodi Oceanography

In the framework of implementation of activities pogram Grant Competition (PHK) A3, Oceanographic Studies Program Faculty of Earth Science and Technology (FITB) recently organized a series of activities to improve student softkill.

Such activities are:

Preparation Training and technical paper presentations in English which took place from November 9-10, 2007. Activity in English include two main materials, namely: preparation of papers consisting of what what good writing, experience in writing, things are fundamental and a few tips on writing techniques, and others. This material was presented by Prof. Dr. S. Widiyantoro (KK Geophysics, FTTM, ITB), as well as presentation techniques consisting of technical and planning in the presentation. This material was presented by A. Gumawang Jati, M.Sc (Language Center, ITB).

Training on the use of Oceanographic Data Processing Software yangbertujuan provide insight and introduction of oceanographic data, the introduction of oceanographic data online and free download on the internet, data processing wind, tides, temperature and salinity by using software provided. At the end of the training is also provided examples and case studies that can be analyzed from the data processed previously.

This training was held on Saturday, November 17, 2007 starting at 9:00 to 17:00 pm, with participants 20 students Prodi Oceanography. But due to high demand, the training was attended by more students.

Faculty consists of Dr. Agus Setiawan (BPPT), Dr. Fitri Riandini (Pusair), and Imma Fitria Maharani, S.Si with the material, among others:

• The introduction of Oceanographic Data
• How to read files in netCDF format and processing wind data from the National Central Environment Prediction (NCEP)
• Using the software OSU Tidal Prediction Software
• Use of Software Ocean Data View (ODV)
• Examples of case studies in southern Java.

Seminar in House “Development, Planning and Utilization of Coastal and Marine Areas of West Papua by taking into account aspects of Oceanography”

Seminar in House in Manokwari was held on:

with the aim of promoting the results of research that has been done by Prodi Oceanography, establish cooperation between BAPEDALDA province of West Papua, Papua University, and the Oceanography Bandung. The seminar was attended by relevant officials in the local government (local government) Provincial and District, some of the representatives of the University of Papua, PPLH, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Transportation and local police.
