Bandung, fitb.itb.ac.id – Four companies won a tender for geothermal or geothermal mining in West Java. The four companies are required to immediately form a consortium in order to get a mining license or IUP from the Government of West Java Province.

The four companies are PT Indonesia Power, PT Jasa Sarana, PT Wijaya Karya and PT Engineering Industries. “The consortium Indonesia Power will manage the mining Tangkubanparahu in Bandung regency. Consortium combination of PT Jasa Sarana and PT Wijaya Karya will manage the territories Tampomas in Sumedang. The region Cisolok-Sukarame in Sukabumi will be managed by a consortium of PT Jasa Sarana and PT Engineering Industries, “Head of the Department of Mines and Energy (Distamben) Tubagus Hisni West Java, Thursday (6/11) in Bandung, after meeting with four representatives of the winning bidder.
Hisni said any consortium shall form a business entity with legal status, such as a limited liability company (PT), in managing mining areas respectively. “It’s easier for project accountability,” he said.

Before the IUP issued, each consortium is obliged to provide bail of 10 million US dollars were put into account together with the Governor. That was to prevent the sale and purchase of IUP by the winning bidder.
Each consortium was given a year’s time for the initial exploration. If in the first six months has not worked, the consortium will be warned. “IUP company will be revoked if in the second six months yet in operation,” said Hisni.

Meanwhile, the company declared the winning bidder will fulfill these requirements. They also have set aside about 100 million US dollars for the initial exploration.
“Around 10 million-15 million US dollars for the exploration of exploration, such as by measuring the geothermal potential and determine the point of exploration potential. For one hole would cost about 5 million US dollars. Readiness also meets the requirements stated by the Head of Business Development of PT Indonesia Power Antonius RT Hartono. “In the near future we will conduct a survey to determine the geothermal potential. It will also involve our partners, both from within and outside the country,” he said.

According to records Distamben Jabar, Tangkubanparahu mining areas have geothermal potential which can generate 150 megawatts (MW), while the region Tampomas 50 MW and 50 MW Cisolok-Sukarame.
Separately, West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan promising geothermal mining in the three areas that will not damage the forest. “That company will strive to maintain the water potential with lush trees because of geothermal wells requires a lot of water reserves,” said Heryawan.

The mining area is geothermal too, said Heryawan, was not in the conservation area. When later found the efforts of forest destruction, West Java provincial government promised to crack down miners.
