Geological Engineering Department Wins Grant PHKI 2009

Based on the letter from the Director General of Higher Education No. 1406 / D / T / 2009, dated August 19, 2009 Proposal Grant Program Competency Institution (PHK-I) with the title “Strengthening Competency Department of Geological Engineering to the era of diversification of energy” Department of Geological Engineering FITB , having escaped the full proposal evaluation by a team of evaluators PHK-I Directorate General of Higher Education can eventually escaped and won a grant PHK-I in 2009.

Strengthening Program Competency PS GL to the era of energy diversification is done through a number of design process is programmed for 3 (three) years of work with the design of the following mechanisms:

A. Strengthening basic competencies curriculum content and applications through a multidisciplinary enrichment related to the competence of geothermal exploration, coal, and nuclear.

1. Increase and synergize the faculty and student understanding of the methodology Field oriented learning (FOL), and the existing development plan.
2. Develop further laboratory modeling of geological processes (analog and computing).
3. Adding the terrestrial energy content in the implementation of applied mandatory lectures related to the topic of geothermal, coal, and nuclear.
4. Increase the student the opportunity to interact directly with the world of work.

B. Development of methods of learning with field studies (Field Oriented Learning) and geological modeling to support graduates in doing more significantly to the energy industry.

1. Develop a more insightful lecture material field through field-based teaching grants.
2. To develop a data base of geological field around Bandung / Jawa-West in a Data Base Management System (DBMS).
3. Improve the students’ ability to interpret field data into digital form.

C. Intensifying equalization program Bachelor Phase-1 PS GL with international university.

1. The development of cooperation networks with alumni and professional organizations, and institutions / companies on an international scale.
2. Improving and developing mastery of terrestrial energy sector through the transfer of knowledge with national-international community.
3. Enlarge portion of English usage active in the implementation of learning materials.
4. Refine curriculum and SAP lecture by pioneering equalization (bench-marking) with geological teaching system of quality at international level.
5. Development and creation of awareness in the Health, Environment and Safety, as well as the integrity and tolerance.

On behalf of the leadership and all members of FITB congratulated for this achievement
