International Geomapping Competition 2016

International Geomapping Competition (IGC) in 2016 is one of the events in Geoweek 2016. IGC itself is an international competition that challenges all undergraduate students in Asia-Pacific to compete with each other to make the best of a geological map. They will be tested his capabilities in the field and analysis in mapping out a specified area. A team consists of three (3) participants the best representatives of their universities. Base location will be housed in the city of Yogyakarta. IGC 2016 Mascot this year is a Javan hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus bartelsi) that is identical of Garuda Indonesia. Javan hawk-Eagle itself is a bird that was rare and endemic in Java. Javan hawk-Eagle choosed as a mascot because this bird symbolizes a firmness, strength, and exactness, so that it can be implemented in a job as a geoscientist. A geoscientist in the work must have a firmness in determining the direction and purpose of exploration, strength to remain resilient in working in the field that the condition is uncertain, also exactness in terms of interpretation and analysis during and after the data was obtained
IGC itself was held as many as four times, in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015. A long journey and the experiences that have been passed make IGC 2016 has matured and can become the largest geological mapping competition among undergraduate students in Asia.
IGC 2016 is held starting on Saturday, October 1st, 2016 to Friday, October 7, 2016. Opening location is in the University Club Gadjah Mada University and presentations will be held at Graha Sabha Pramana (GSP) Gadjah Mada University. Mapping will be held on October 2 to 4, 2016 and the presentation will be held on October 6, 2016
