International Seminar on Marine Denpasar, 9-10 June 2011

KK fitb.itb.ac.id Oceanography – FITB cooperation with the Marine Research and Observation (BROK) and Udayana University held the International Seminar on Marine for two days, June 9 to 10, 2011 at Udayana University Graduate Building. This year, the theme of the seminar is the Resource Management Marine and Coastal Sustainable in the area of ​​the Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI), with three sub-themes, namely Dynamics of Oceanography in Region CTI, Vulnerability in Region CTI of Climate Change and Resource Management Marine and Coastal Region CTI. The event was organized in order to bring together researchers, academics, and policy makers in Indonesia and the world to formulate and carry out mitigation and adaptation may be necessary to preserve the coral reefs in the CTI region.

The seminar was opened by Prof. Dr. I Komang Gede Bendesa, M.A.D.E Vice Rector of Udayana University. Followed then the signing of collaboration between the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology ITB with the Center for Marine and Coastal Resources Research and Development KP and the Faculty of Science and Technology at the Graduate School of Earth ITB Udayana University. Acting as a keynote speaker is Prof. Dr. Jamaluddin Jompa of the Commission, Prof. Eddy A of ITB and Prof. Subroto Dr. Tasuku Tanaka of CReSOS Udayana University. Also present were the speakers invited Prof. Dr. Safwan Hadi (KK-OS, ITB), Prof. Dr. Suharsono (LIPI), Dr. Osawa Takahiro (CReSOS – UNUD), Dr. Wei Dong Yu (FIO, SOA – China), Dr. Joanne Wilson (TNC – Australia), Dra. Nurhayati, M. Sc (BMKG), Dr. Sukrasno (FA, ITB), and Dr. I Wayan Arthana, M: S (PPLH – UNUD). The seminar was attended by about two hundred and fifty attendees to fifty of them participate as a public speaker.
Participants who participated in this seminar consists of researchers from research institutes and NGOs in Indonesia, China, Japan and Australia, as well as researchers from the University in the field of Marine, as well as students from Prodi Oceanography, Department of Marine from Hasanuddin University – Makassar, Universitas Padjadjaran Bandung – University Trunojoyo – Madura, Hangtuah University – Surabaya, and many more. It is expected the results of research that has been done and presented in this seminar, will be taken step – a significant step as well as the public policies that can support the performance of all parties to follow up on the issues raised in the CTI region.
