In accordance with the contents of the background of the Booklet, as an archipelago with more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia has enormous natural resources. The potential of biodiversity has not been used optimally, especially in small islands. To optimize exploration and exploitation of natural resources on small islands, science knowledge and conservation technology need to be possessed. Therefore, the transfer of knowledge about small islands conservation is needed, for example, this summer’s school. The aim is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the conservation of natural resources on small islands.

The program review according to the main topic of this summer’s school is ‘Small Island Conservation: A Case of Islands’ which will be delivered by combining classes and field activities. Class activities are held to convey new insights and knowledge about conservation in Indonesia, especially in small islands. Meanwhile, field activities are intended to strengthen conservation knowledge in small islands that have been delivered in class. In addition, there are also additional activities, for example, cultural experience activities to introduce Indonesia’s heritage, especially Sundanese, to fellow foreign participants.
