SMA Se Bandung Raya Build Earth Science Center Cooperation With FITB

Dozens of high school geography teacher as Bandung Raya agreed to make the center of earth science in schools. There will be five science center that will be built with the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology ITB.

The main objective of the earth’s center for learning science teachers and that there are high school students from West Java who can join international geoscience Olympics.

According to the Chairman of the Task Force of Earth Science Olympiad ITB Ketut Wikantika, five earth science center to be established in a number of pilot schools that are geology, remote sensing, surveying, meteorology, and marine.

ITB will provide access to information and related data fields built. “We will give open source software provides knowledge, such as remote sensing,” said Ketut Wikantika on the sidelines of the meeting was the establishment of scientific centers in the ITB, Tuesday (11/8).

Additionally, ITB will provide training to teachers and students of geography. The cooperation is also planned to involve BMKG Bandung, and Geological Museum.

Geography teachers SMAN 1 Ciparay, Bandung, Nurul Huda, said it was important scientific center to trigger the teachers increase their knowledge. “Learning is important,” he said, Tuesday (11/8).

Another goal is for schools to send students to the international terrestrial Olympic event.

He said that so far there has been no student achievement West Java in that arena. At the most, he said, in the national arena. “Last year to send five people and only got a bronze,” he said.

International event which targeted the teachers so that students can participate it is International Earth Science Olympiad and the International Geography Olympiad.
