Bandung fitb.itb.ac.id, Located in the Multimedia Room, FITB receive honorary guest of the Dutch ICT, the meeting in order to discuss plans for education and research cooperation between the Department of Geological Engineering at the Department of Earth System Analysis, International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) – the Netherlands, which will be outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FITB with ITC. The meeting was opened by the Vice Dean for Resources, Dr. Ir. Rubiyanto Kapid and dilanjutnya by a discussion led by the Chairman of Master and Doctor of Engineering Geology, Dr. Eng. Imam A. Sadisun. ITC parties represented by Applied Earth Sciences Course Director / Senior Project Office, Drs. Tom M. Loran.

The discussion was started by the exposure of educational programs, especially Geological Engineering Master Program with preferential field of Economic Geologists. This is related to the plan of the program double / dual degree between FITB with the ITC in the field of Economic Geologists. On this occasion, Drs. Tom M. Loran also delivered educational system prevailing in the ITC and various experiences in managing the program double / dual degree. In the field of education, was also discussed the possibility of other forms of cooperation, such as exchange / visiting professors / lecturers, guest lectures, and exchange of course material. Interestingly, the ITC also offers courses remotely through the internet which they manage all this.

In the field of research, it has been planned to conduct joint research (joint research) for various areas of expertise in geology. Indonesia which has a specific geology, would be very attractive to foreign researchers, including those from ITC. Even in this discussion has been agreed that a joint research program will be faster encouraged to be realized soon.

Actual initiation of this cooperation began in 2005, when Dr. Paul van Dick visit to Engineering Geology and offered to cooperate with the ITC. However, after the visit there was no follow-up of the geology, so this hubunga disconnected. Currently this cooperation relationship began to be developed more in line with ITB kengininan to become a World Class University. To me a separate place, Drs Tom Loran said that some representatives of the ITC itself has come to several other universities in Bandung and Yogyakarta, which has faculties / departments with terrestrial science, but this time everything was completely unresponsive. So he said that the ITC sincerely hope the cooperation with ITB can be realized as soon as possible.
