Volcano Discussion with Tohuku University
In a collaborative effort to deepen the understanding of volcanic activity and eruptions, renowned researchers from the Fakultas Ilmu dan Teknologi Kebumian (FITB) and Tohoku University engaged in a fruitful discussion on the latest developments in their respective fields. The discussion, which was held on Friday (9/6/2023), opened with remarkable research conducted in Sri Lanka, utilizing remote sensing technology to monitor land vibrations and detect falling pebbles in volcanic areas. This study uses satellite microwave remote sensing (SAR) and ground penetrating radar (GPR) to monitor ground vibrations and detect falling rocks in volcanic areas.
The discussion between FITB and Tohoku University researchers served as an important platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. The sharing of research findings, methodologies, and insights fostered a deeper understanding of volcanology and eruption dynamics, promoting advancements in the field and laying the groundwork for future joint research endeavors.
